| Ghosts & Haunts In Missouri Felix's Grave Stories That cemetery you are referring to is not Felix cemetery its the backside of Mt. Mora cemetery located just north of Frederick up a few blocks north from the Fredrick inn restaurant. Felix's grave resides in a conservation area that is in the north-end of town. but beware i used to work for the conservation department and i know they watch that area and love to write tickets for those in there after dark. The grave itself can't be seen from the road you must go up the drive which is cable locked its about 50 yards up the drive then it forks take the right or north fork and its about 30 yards down that fork its just a small plot with about four graves all of which face the setting sun instead of the rising sun supposedly witches are buried that way facing the setting sun. i used to have to care for that area lots of deer and other wild animals so soak up the scenery with maybe a good scare, as i have heard of other things up there happening. A Someone asked me what I experienced. Well, I've been telling this story all my life. Most people don't believe me. The first time I visited was when I was sixteen years old. My boyfriend and I were just out driving around at night. Just for the record -we had not (yet) been drinking or indulging in any other substances. I had no idea where we were going at all. All I know is that he turned down a little unpaved lane off the road (I'm sure he had big ideas, you know? ). The lane was big enough for one car, no space to turn around. We had no sooner started down this path when I began to get very uneasy which escalated to anxiety then to fear then very quickly to unbased terror. I didn't know why I was freaking out, because at that time, I had no idea there what was at the end of the path. I started screaming to get me out of there. I was screaming and crying and didn't know why. I was having a bonafide panic attack. I had never reacted to anything like this before. There was no way to turn around (which he kept telling me). When we got to the end of the path, it opened out into a dark area with a prominent tree. We saw lights flashing everywhere and I could hear what sounded like laughter (he didn't hear the voices, but sIt was of course, a very very long time ago that I was there (30 years), at the time I don't remember there being a wall. Just a great big old tree and a grave surrounded by a wrought iron fence.aw the lights). Now I can identify the lights as orbs - then I had no idea how to describe them. We got turned around and something started BANGING on the back of the car. It felt like it was going to knock the car over. And I was screaming again and Chuck was swearing and all in all it was like something out of a horror movie. I can say that we could see all around us and no one was there but us. I will swear to my deathbed that it is the most haunted place I have ever been. I have had lots of paranormal experiences, but that one was by far the scariest. About 10 years later, a friend and I found the place again. I wanted to visit it during the day. The feeling of unease was there for sure, but we didn't have any paranormal experiences. I could not get out of the car - my apprehension was too great. I did know that I DID NOT WANT TO BE THERE AFTER DARK. Who is buried there? Does anyone know? What is the history? I never found out. I am amazed to have found people talking about it here all these years later! It was of course, a very very long time ago that I was there (30 years), at the time I don't remember there being a wall. Just a great big old tree and a grave surrounded by a wrought iron fence. J I moved up here with my husband about a year ago. He is from here and I asked him if there is any weird stuff. He didn't know if this was weird but he told me that when he was in high school his friend commit suicide. The guy was talking to his ex-girlfriend on the cell phone and I guess he decided he couldn't live without her so he drove the car with his other friends in the wall of Felix cemetery. It killed them all and she heard it all N My cousin is a local historian in St. Jo. I wrote to him trying to get more info on Felix's Grave. He told me that the graveyard at the conservation is the old "Potter's Grave" where the indigent were buried. He also told me that graves have been added since I was there of course. When I lived there, I was under the impression that it more like a family plot. It seemed very small. L Page Back Next Page |
