Okay, so I went out there Sunday afternoon, and I have to say that I was really disappointed. I mean, it's a pretty place and all, and the view of the river bend lake is all very scenic, but it was just a country bridge the day that I was there. I parked in the little spot in the cornfield and walked up the road, over the bridge, onto the other side, up a bit along the path to the left, some of the way up the hill to the right, and then stopped when I a car came down the hill and I realized that I didn't know anything about the property lines in the area. It was obvious that the hill side of the bridge is used by kids to party, with several burned out campfire spots, one in the middle of the road, and a lot of bottle/can/cup type litter. The river banks were obviously used to dump trash on by numerous people, and the left bank of the river had an oily scum on it, with some suspect oil containers nearby. The water was a nice, peaceful green, and it was pretty windy, so the trees moved a lot, but the only noises I heard aside from those were the birds and the cars that came by. I could see where it would be a popular night time and weekend hangout for kids, but aside from the lack of any glimpse of civilization in view, I didn't see that much that was creepy about the place. I tried a different route from work that time, and it still took an hour to get there, so I don't think I'm going to be going back. I came back and started reading some of the stuff about it, and I almost kick myself for going out. Things like "And they say if you stand on the bridge and say "demon dog" three times you'll see a headless three legged dog" just shouldn't be the basis of any kind of paranormal investigation. (The demon dog trick didn't work, by the way.) Lack of real detail about the circumstances surrounding the paranormal activity and the vague description of haunting events combined with the travel for me will cross this site off of my list. My friends and I decided we would go to the bridge and check out some of the rumors about it being haunted. We took a 5 plus megapixle digicam and an open-mind. We had gone there before about 2 years earlier and heard a strange guttural sound could have been a bear so we came tonight i little more prepared. The stories we have heard besides the "demondog" was that a teenager upset with life hung himself from the first barrister crossing the bridge as you come up on it from hwy 185. We took several pics and noticed something strange. "ERIC"! There were several painted messages all over the bridge in reference to Eric most saying "we love you" or "we <heart> you Eric" or just plain Eric. when we looked at the pics we did see what could be possible "orbs" in certain areas of the bridge, we will post them soon. But our questions is whose Eric is this the boy who hung himself or what. If anyone knows about this please let us know by replying to this email. thank you, Corey I was watching Fox 2 news at 9 last night and they had a story on, a car that was found burned to a crisp next to the bridge, and a person was found in the car burned so badly they couldn't identify his/her gender. They don't know what caused the fire, but are suspecting methamphetamine cooking. R Add your stories Page Back |
