| Hi, The Delassus-Kern house has been a particular interest to my since one of my first great grandfathers Chevalier Pierre DeHault DeLassus fled the French Revolution and arrived in New Boubon in 1793 where they built this house and did there in appx 1806. This home is located two miles south of Ste. Genevieve on U.S. Highway 61. The top floor has been added much later according to studies done by the DNR. Also, it was originally located on top of the hill in what was considered Nouvelle Bourbon during the DeLassus' time. Later dismanted and moved to the present location. It is told by the locals that this house in haunted, but I personally do not live close enough to speak to anyone about the claims. My cousins and I went to the home out of curiosity of our ancestory this past week during the Jour de Fette celebration. It is boarded up, but well maintained. The basement did have an open window and one of my cousin's snapped a shot that I have attached Sincerely, S Page Back |
